Discerning Mediation is dedicated to providing parties to any dispute (other than Family Law disputes) a  neutral place to come to attempt to resolve their differences in a confidential mediation outside of the courtroom. In mediation, you, not a third party, determine the terms of any resolution which might be acceptable to both parties . If the mediation efforts fail, you still keep all your rights to pursue resolution in a courtroom or other form of alternative dispute resolution such as arbitration. 

Due to my teaching commitments, I am will only be able to perform mediation services during the summer break months of late June and early August of each year in Los Angeles County. If interested in retaining me for such services, please call or e-mail me and I will reply. 

 

I believe from past experience that it is far better for most parties to a dispute to at least to attempt to resolve their differences in mediation before arguing their case in a public and contentious trial or other judicial hearing. Mediation sessions can occur anytime from before a dispute becomes a  formal lawsuit to the courthouse steps immediately before trial. It is an option to consider at any stage of a dispute.

 

 While initial mediation sessions occasionally fail to completely resolve a dispute, my experience has been that participation in the process does aid the parties in better defining the issues which may well lead to resolution of the dispute at a later date.
